Vice President of Content

JOB SUMMARY:

• The VP of Content serves as LVPM’s senior editorial and content executive, with enterprise-wide responsibility for newsroom, production and education functions across digital, broadcast, and live platforms.

• This leader will architect, build, and scale a high-performing, integrated content organization, defining staffing structure, workflows, governance frameworks, and long-term resource strategy in alignment with LVPM’s transformation goals and long-term community impact.

• The VP of Content ensures all content is clearly defined, responsibly managed, and strategically integrated across platforms, safeguarding public trust while expanding community participation.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Strategy & Leadership

• Lead LVPM’s unified civic and storytelling strategy in alignment with the organization’s transformation goals.

• Align journalism, storytelling, and community participation within a cohesive content architecture.

• Build, mentor and lead a collaborative, high-performing content organization.

Professional Journalism Leadership (Civic Hub)

• Lead strategy and growth of LVPM’s local journalism, ensuring accuracy, independence, and accountability.

• Establish and uphold editorial standards consistent with professional journalism.

• Prioritize coverage that helps residents understand public decisions, civic life, and local impact.

• Expand journalism distribution through newsletters, digital platforms, broadcast integration, and live civic forums.

Professional Storytelling Leadership (Storytelling Hub)

• Oversee development of documentaries, narrative features, cultural coverage, and educational or entertaining storytelling produced by LVPM staff.

• Ensure storytelling reflects the full life of the region: arts, culture, history, creativity, education, and lived experience.

• Move storytelling across digital platforms and into live experiences to deepen community connection.

Community-Generated Content & Participation

• Develop and scale LVPM’s community correspondent and youth media initiatives.

• Establish clear tiered standards for community storytelling, open submissions, and announcements.

• Balance openness and accessibility with credibility and editorial oversight.

• Collaborate with education leaders and partners to teach storytelling, ethics, and media literacy.

Editorial Governance & Trust

• Serve as the final editorial authority for content classification and standards.

• Establish clear risk tiers and review processes aligned with content type.

• Regularly assess editorial policies to ensure transparency, clarity, and public confidence.

Audience & Community Engagement

• Use audience insights and data to inform content priorities and distribution strategy across platforms.

• Position LVPM as a convener of civic dialogue and cultural connection through journalism and storytelling.

• Expand local journalism integration across PBS39, digital platforms and live events.

Revenue & Partnerships

• Collaborate with the Development and Membership team to create content-driven revenue opportunities.

• Ensure all content initiatives support sponsor, donor, and membership engagement.

• Pursue innovative distribution and partnership models with schools, businesses, and cultural institutions.

• The role will be charged with expanding community engagement, growing audience reach and driving sustainable revenue through content that resonates with our region.

• Serve as the strategic partner to the CEO, ensuring content priorities support revenue growth, membership, and philanthropy.

• Foster community-generated content and collaborations with local voices, educators, nonprofits, and civic partners.

• Pursue innovative distribution and partnership models with schools, businesses, and cultural institutions.

SKILLS:

* Demonstrated success leading integrated newsroom operations across digital-first publishing, broadcast production, and live civic programming.

* Proven track record in multi-platform storytelling (broadcast, digital, social, live events).

KNOWLEDGE:

* Strong editorial judgment and understanding of audience engagement trends.

* Ability to integrate professional and community-created content responsibly or an understanding of participatory media models.

EXPERIENCE:

* Ten (10) plus years of progressive leadership experience in content strategy, media, journalism, and/or public media.

* Experience leading journalism operations

* Experience leading multi-format storytelling teams.

* Experience designing editorial standards or governance structures.
