Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Social Media, the Marketing Content Creator is responsible for developing engaging, mission-centered content across multiple platforms for diverse audiences, including prospective and current undergraduate and graduate students, parents, alumni, donors, faculty, and staff. This role blends strong writing skills with visual storytelling. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely 2-3 days per week, and some flexibility in scheduled work hours as long as you provide expected deliverables within specified timeframes. The members of this team wear many hats, which means you will have regular opportunities to build your skills as we explore emerging tools, technologies and storytelling techniques to engage with a variety of audiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create engaging written content for digital and print channels, including website, email, social media, media outlets, magazines, and more 
  • Support content strategy initiatives that align with the University’s mission, brand, and enrollment goals 
  • Shoot and edit short-form video content for social media, web, and promotional use 
  • Design basic digital and print materials using brand guidelines (e.g., flyers, social graphics, event materials) 
  • Collaborate with team members across marketing, admissions, and other University departments to gather stories and content ideas, create materials and manage the approval process
  • Assist in updating website content 
  • Ensure consistency in tone, voice, and messaging across all communications 
  • Interview students and other University stakeholders, create news and feature stories, and manage the approval process
  • Stay current with content trends and recommend creative approaches to storytelling 
  • Manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above and below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be detail-orientated with strong communication and organization skills. Some night and weekend work is required. 

Education/Experience 
 Bachelor's degree in Marketing, communications, English or a related field is required. One to three years creating marketing or communications content (internships included). Experience in higher education or mission-driven organizations preferred, but not required. 

Technical Skills 
 Proficiency with a personal computer for word processing. Basic experience with video production and editing (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar tools) and graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva). Photography skills preferred, but not required. 

Language Skills 
 Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Fluency in Spanish is preferred, but not required.
 
Mathematical Skills 
 Ability to apply mathematical concepts to practical situations. Ability to work with statistical information
 
Reasoning Ability 
 Ability to apply principles of logic and problem solving to a wide range of problems. Individual must be able to think critically.
 
Interpersonal Skills 
 Ability to interact effectively and professionally with others. Self-direction and independent work style are very important, along with the ability to work as part of a cross-departmental team.
