    Title: Communications Media Specialist

    Takes Direction From:  Director of School/Community Engagement, Coordinator of Communication Media

     

    Schedule/Calendar:   7.50 hours/day     37.50 hours/week     262 days/year

     

    Frequent nights and weekends

     

    SEEKING AN AUDIO VISUAL (AV) TECHNICIAN

     

    Essential Functions:

     
    • Coordinate media, sound, and lighting needs for events in NPSD including, but not limited to School Board meetings, community use of facilities, school use of auditoriums, multipurpose rooms, and cafeterias.

    • Assist with video editing, videography, audio, field/ news/studio production and production of content for and television and web.

    • Design, specify, install, configure, maintain, and repair district communication equipment and systems organization-wide.

    • Assist staff and students with the use of audio/visual systems and develop formal procedures and training for staff in the use of audio/visual technology.

    • Assist principals and other administrators with communication needs, evaluate requests, and develop recommendations based upon district policies and best practice.

    • Provide support for escalated AV system issues not resolved by NPSD technology department.

    • Provide 2-way radio system support in conjunction with the Coordinator of Emergency Management and Safe Schools.

    • Work in partnership with district administration and staff to develop, maintain, and communicate emergency action plans for public performance spaces as required by district policy as well as state and federal guidelines.

    • Work with vendors to coordinate equipment repairs, inspections, and maintenance.

    • Assist Coordinator of Communication Media with supervision of student crew members and professional substitutes, crew members, and assistants.

    • Prepare bid specifications, evaluate bids, and provide purchasing recommendations for communication, audio visual, and television equipment in cooperation with the district purchasing specialist.

    • Perform other departmental duties as assigned by the supervisor.
       

     

    Education and/or Certification Required:

     
    • High School Diploma, Bachelors preferred

    • Infocomm CTS, CTS-D and/or CTS-I certification preferred?

     

     

     

    Experience Needed:

     
    • Experience with large venue sound reinforcement and lighting design.  Experience in design, installation, and maintenance of communications systems and equipment including but not limited to; Classroom display, analog and digital radio, sound reinforcement, facility paging, visual display, cable television.

     

    Requisite Skills:

     
    • Basic IP network engineering and admin experience.

    • Working knowledge of AV, computers, stage rigging systems in education setting, lighting/ dimmer controls, advanced audio engineering.

    • Videotape editing; videography (studio and field); electronic field production

    • Knowledge of basic electrical troubleshooting.

    • Experience using test equipment and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and/or optimize systems. 

    • Must be able use hand tools, solder and crimp required connections, pull cable, lift up to 75lbs, climb ladders/lifts to 35+ feet, and work overhead in elevated and confined spaces.
