The Vice President, External Communications is responsible for media relations, social media, reputation management, crisis communications, and public-facing executive communications for Ascensus and its four lines of business. The ideal candidate will have strong media relationships, a knack for news creation, and experience in engaging with the current media landscape through social media and other channels. They should also have a proven track record in building executive relationships and managing CEO and President platforms.
Section 2: Job Functions, Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDefine and implement strategies for media relations, social media, and reputation management aligned with commercial goals, including documenting plans and metrics.
Develop and maintain relationships with leadership and key departments to source media opportunities.
Create media-ready content such as press releases, thought leadership pieces, and social media content to generate media coverage and speaking engagements.
Monitor media positioning and industry trends to inform strategy.
Collaborate across departments and leverage data insights to achieve media objectives.
Prepare reports on media activities for the executive team.
Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of sensitive data.
Uphold Ascensus's core values through daily actions and organizational culture.
Support additional tasks and projects as needed.
Supervision The Vice President will oversee the Director of Media Content, Director of Enterprise Social Media, and external vendors, leading projects that enhance reputation and media presence.
Section 3: Experience, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements10-15 years of experience in financial services media relations, reputation management, crisis communications, and social media; retirement industry experience preferred.
Excellent writing skills, including executive communication.
Established media contacts in finance and technology sectors.
