About the team and the role: This is a communications role embedded within the Marketing Department, serving as the dedicated PR specialist for TCGplayer. You will be the primary point of contact for all external communications, managing our external PR agency while driving strategy, execution, and results. You are a seasoned communications professional in public relations and external communications. You know how to craft compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences and elevate brand presence. With a strategic mindset, you see the big picture while meticulously planning and executing communication strategies that align with and drive organizational goals. Relationship-building is central to your work, whether engaging with sellers, collaborating with internal and cross-functional teams, or cultivating media relationships. You bring both creativity and analytical rigor, enabling you to deliver messaging that are engaging,impactful, and measurable. You excel at identifying opportunities for thought leadership, positioning TCGplayer's leaders as influential voices in the industry. The Marketing Department promotes TCGplayer as a brand and drives sales of our products and services. The team is responsible for the long-term planning, strategy, and execution of creative and digital campaigns across multiple channels (internal and external) supporting company priorities and goals. Marketing also serves as brand stewards by defining and evolving the company's voice and visual identity.. Within this team, you will lead communications and PR as the specialist focused on earned media and external storytelling. What you will accomplish: Develop and execute external communications strategies and PR plans that align with the company goals, ensuring consistent, compelling messaging across media channels Draft and edit press releases, media statements, op-eds, speeches, blog posts, and other external-facing materials that reflect the company’s brand voice Stay informed on industry trends, competitive activities, and emerging media opportunities to highlight TCGplayer as a market leader. Manage and oversee external PR agency partners, freelancers, and other vendors to ensure deliverables are on time, on budget, and on brand Partner with sellers on the TCGplayer marketplace to help them enhance their profiles and optimize their engagement strategies, providing guidance and resources for effective communication and brand building Drive executive thought leadership by partnering with senior executives on opportunities including speaking engagements, panels, bylined articles, and social media presence Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, industry analysts, and media outlets; proactively pitch stories, op-eds, and interviews to secure coverage Collaborate with eBay communications experts to shape compelling narratives around the broader Collectibles space Support crisis communication planning and execution to protect and enhance the company’s reputation during sensitive or high-profile situations Manage communications strategy for major events, conferences, and product launches, including messaging, media invitations, and onsite press relations Leverage AI-powered tools for media monitoring, trend analysis, and content optimization to strengthen storytelling and campaign effectiveness Track, analyze, and report on media coverage, PR campaign performance, and brand sentiment to inform future strategies What you will bring: Minimum 7-8 years of experience in external communications, public relations, or a similar role, with a proven track record of developing and executing communication strategies Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience) Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail Media relations expertise and experience managing multiple projects simultaneously Demonstrated success in managing and influencing external and internal stakeholders Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal stakeholders including executive leadership The base pay range for this position is expected in the range below: $84,800 - $146,900 Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave).
