Summary
The Public Relations (PR) Intern supports the Public Relations arm of the Corporate Communications Team in the strategic development and implementation of PR campaigns to support business needs. Working closely with the PR Specialist, the PR Intern provides writing, editing and media relations support to enhance and protect the reputation of both Goddard Systems and Goddard Schools.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of PR strategies that drive awareness and enrollment during pre-opening and launch phases for new Goddard Schools, including support for grand opening events.
- Assist with the ongoing PR guidance offered to established Goddard Schools, helping them leverage local stories and community involvement for positive media coverage.
- Assist in partnering with transfer Goddard School owners to craft and implement PR strategies that drive awareness and enrollment.
- Help identify PR needs and opportunities.
- Complete a PR Intern project, to be developed and executed in conjunction with the PR Specialist.
- Monitor Goddard media coverage, industry trends and competitor PR activity and provide regular updates to the PR team.
- Provide support to department leadership and manage special projects as assigned.
Experience and Competencies
Minimum Requirements
- Earned or currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, English, marketing, or other applicable field of study
- Proficient with computer applications, including Microsoft Office
Highly Desired
- Strong writing and editing capabilities and proficiency in AP style
- Personable and professional with strong written and oral communication skills, able to advance the Goddard School brand and reputation
- Strategic, creative, analytical and organizational skills
- Proficient with computer applications, including SharePoint and Meltwater
- Ability to develop strong relationships
- Strong time management, problem-solving, planning and organization skills to work on multiple projects in a results-oriented environment.
