Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Account Director to join our B2B team. The Account Director will play a critical role in developing and executing comprehensive public relations strategies for our B2B clients. This individual will be responsible for managing client relationships, leading account teams, and ensuring the successful delivery of high-quality PR campaigns.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for B2B clients, building and maintaining strong relationships, understanding their business objectives, and providing strategic counsel.
- Strategy Development: Develop and implement innovative PR strategies that align with clients' business goals, leveraging industry insights and best practices.
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor account teams, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment. Provide guidance and support to junior staff.
- Campaign Execution: Oversee the execution of PR campaigns, ensuring timely delivery of projects, high-quality work, and measurable results. Manage budgets and resources effectively.
- Media Relations: Develop and maintain relationships with key media contacts. Secure media coverage and manage media inquiries on behalf of clients.
- Content Creation: Oversee the development of compelling content, including press releases, articles, case studies, and social media posts.
- Reporting & Analysis: Track and analyze campaign performance, providing clients with regular updates and actionable insights. Use data to refine strategies and improve outcomes.
- New Business Development: Contribute to new business initiatives, including proposal development, presentations, and pitching to prospective clients.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in public relations, with a large portion of that in an agency setting. Internal PR experience in a tech company or a startup is a valuable plus. For a Senior Director role, a minimum of 12 years is required.
- Team Leadership: Minimum of 5 years in a team leadership role, making budget and staffing decisions. For a Senior Director role, a minimum of 7 years is required. Clear leadership experience managing teams and providing direct supervision to multiple employees, ability to manage the annual review process, and identify skills gaps.
Skills
- Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to coach and direct staff by example.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including strong AP writing skills and experience with pitching that yields top-tier press coverage.
- Ability to develop and execute successful PR strategies and crisis communication plans.
- Strong client service and relationship-building abilities, with the skill to persuade and coach the C-suite.
- Deep understanding of the media landscape, tech journalism, and B2B industry sectors, with established media contacts.
- Competent in managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating success in quick-turn projects and deliverables.
- Proficiency in inclusive communication, regular reporting, and effectively managing team workflow and project progress.
- Experience with product launches and visual communication in pitching, marketing, and reporting.
- Ability to coach writing, adhering to style, mechanics, and nuances of language.
- Capability to be managed and to manage up, and to participate in and drive culture in an all-remote environment.
