Site:            Corporate Headquarters, Ashland Nature Center, Hockessin DE
Schedule:    Monday – Friday   8:30am to 4:30 pm, f
lexibility to attend events nights/weekends is required.

Delaware Nature Society’s mission is connecting people and nature to create a healthy environment for all through education, conservation, and advocacy.

 

Founded in 1964, the Delaware Nature Society (DelNature) is a state-wide, non-profit organization that aspires to be inclusive and multicultural, celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity. DelNature delivers hands-on environmental education programming at four sites and throughout the region, in New Castle & Sussex Counties: (New Castle) Ashland Nature Center (HQ), in Hockessin, DE; DuPont Environmental Education Center, in Wilmington, DE; Coverdale Farm Preserve, in Greenville, DE; (Sussex) Abbott’s Mill Nature Center, in Milford, DE. We also manage over 2,000 acres of land including four nature preserves.

Position Summary

The Marketing Manager is responsible for helping to develop and implement marketing and communications strategies and objectives to enhance the public image and position of Delaware Nature Society through marketing channels and printed materials. Working closely with the Director of Advancement and Marketing Vendors, the Marketing Manager ensures deadlines are met and marketing materials meet the demands and expectations of the organization.  Working with other departments to promote our programs, events, membership and mission driven work through digital and print marketing and on our website. Promotes membership, volunteerism, site engagement, education and conservation initiatives to inspire support and involvement in our work.

 

The Marketing Manager is a part of the Advancement Team and reports to the Director of Advancement.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following

  • Assist in creating and implementing marketing and communication strategies aligned with organizational goals, including target audiences, program promotions, and messaging.
  • Manage the production of marketing collateral such as signage, advertising, promotional materials and other marketing pieces.
  • Manage and execute e-newsletters via Constant Contact.
  • Use Canva to create email headers, flyers, event signage etc. 
  • Coordinates efforts of Marketing Vendors for design, print and website management.
  • Oversee the creation and distribution of high-quality content including website copy, blog posts, and marketing materials. 
  • Collaborates with team and other staff with storytelling efforts that will increase DelNature’s visibility in the community.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify trends, customer insights, and competitor activity to inform marketing strategies. 
  • Assist with managing marketing budget.  Tracks and ensures marketing expenses (ad campaigns, print collateral, signage) are consistent with budget. 
  • Protect and enhance DelNature's brand image across all marketing and communication channels. 
  • Utilize data analytics tools to measure campaign effectiveness, identify trends, and make informed marketing decisions.
  • Work with the Director of Advancement to create mission-focused messaging and content that inspires program and event participation to members, supporters, and prospects.
  • Work with Development Outreach Coordinator to create membership messaging and general social media content as needed.
  • Assist in planning and managing organization, fundraising, and stewardship events.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Commitment to and passion for the Delaware Nature Society
  • Degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism or Communications
  • 5+ years experience in marketing or communications field; non profit experience preferred but not required
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Strong project management skills, word processing, desktop publishing, photo editing
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive team player with the ability to work independently.
  • Self-starter and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel required.
  • Experience with or willingness to learn WordPress, database and accounting software.
  • Flexible and adaptable to work a schedule that meets the needs of the various sites and events.
  • Punctual and dependable with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and share knowledge with others.

Salary and Compensation

Starting annual salary of $47,000  commensurate with skills, knowledge and experience.  This is an Exempt full-time position with health, dental, paid time off, and  employer/employee matched retirement benefits.
