Description

The mission of Healthy Start is to improve maternal and child health and to reduce poor birth outcomes and infant mortality in Allegheny County. 

Overview: 

The Marketing & Engagement Coordinator is a key member of the Marketing & Engagement (ME) team and plays a critical role in supporting the execution of the organization’s internal and external communications strategies. This position supports Healthy Start’s mission by creating and managing high-quality content for digital and print distribution, coordinating events, and supporting community outreach activities and marketing initiatives. The Coordinator is also responsible for helping amplify the voices of Healthy Start’s target population, ensuring these narratives are represented in our materials and campaigns. The role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, has strong content and design skills, and is passionate about maternal and child health and connecting with the community. 

Duties of the role include: 

Marketing & Communications 

  • Coordinate content creation and daily management for all Healthy Start social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube) 

  • Draft, edit, and distribute internal and external marketing materials, including flyers, brochures, presentations, one-pagers, press releases, etc. 

  • Collaborate with team members to execute branded campaigns and storytelling projects 

  • Support newsletter development and mass email communications 

  • Coordinate printing projects and mailing campaigns 

  • Assist with email marketing campaigns, including list segmentation, email design, and performance tracking 

  • Ensure consistency of brand and messaging across all platforms 

Event & Engagement Support 

  • Provide planning and on-site support for organization-wide events including community outreach, fundraising events, and staff activities 

  • Coordinate logistics and marketing support needs across departments for programmatic and engagement events 

  • Manage inventory of marketing and outreach materials 

  • Represent Healthy Start at outreach events, community fairs, and tabling opportunities 

  • Assist with set-up, materials distribution, and attendee engagement at community events 

  • Collaborate with staff and volunteers to ensure outreach materials and messaging are consistent and inclusive 

Content Production & Digital Support 

  • Assist with light video editing and graphic design projects to support campaigns, internal trainings, and events 

  • Collaborate with ME team and other departments to collect and package visual content for storytelling purposes 

  • Maintain and update the company’s website and social media platforms with new content and updates 

  • Monitor and analyze marketing campaign performance, providing reports and insights for optimization 

Collaboration & Coordination 

  • Act as a liaison between the marketing department, community outreach and education, and other internal teams, ensuring smooth communication and collaboration 

  • Maintain shared folders, templates, and digital marketing assets 

  • Assist with other administrative needs as assigned 

 



Qualifications

Skills and Knowledge Required: 

  • Passion, energy and drive. 

  • Experience in marketing, design (Canva), event support, and community outreach 

  • Experience with digital marketing trends, SEO, and content creation 

  • Strong organization and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and marketing software (Bloomerang CRM or similar, email platforms, social media tools, Monday.com etc.) 

  • Professional, self-starter who is reliable, solutions-oriented, flexible, proactive, resilient, organized, and punctual 

  • Commitment to racial and health equity and familiarity with community-based public health issues is a plus 

  • Must possess a valid unrestricted Pennsylvania Driver’s License and current and valid unrestricted automobile insurance and be listed as an insured driver. 

  • Personal transportation with employee listed as an insured driver on the vehicle used for work. 

Other: 

  • COVID-19 vaccination 

  • Act 33/34 and FBI clearances are required  

Supervisory Relationship: 

This position works under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Engagement, with frequent collaboration with the Marketing and Engagement team and coordination with outreach and program staff. 

Physical Demands: 

  • The work performed requires sitting, keying, typing and answering phones, with occasional light lifting, carrying, stooping, standing, bending, walking and filing. 

  • Hybrid work environment with periodic in-person event support and meetings and regular attendance at community outreach events. 

  • Intense mental, visual and aural attention is required as the work involves responding to requests, planning or performing work that is often fast-paced and community-facing. 

Compensation: 

The starting salary for this position is $50,000-$55,000 annually. This is an exempt position.
