General Summary

To Support the marketing efforts across internal and external channels. The Marketing Communication Specialist will assume responsibility for creating and disseminating content that is intended for digital signage, social media, and public information. This position will serve an extension of the credit union at community events and credit union sponsored activities.  

Essential Functions

  • Possess adequate product knowledge as measured by the annual product knowledge certification assessment.
  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing marketing campaigns, annual, and special events.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Marketing Department team, utilizing a range of computer software applications to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Design Suite, Constant Contact, Canva, and other graphics and marketing-related software and websites.
  • Assist with graphic design tasks, such as creating visuals for marketing materials to include but not limited to or social media posts, in branch TVs, digital road signs, emails, newsletters and press releases..
  • Maintain up-to-date audits of marketing content across all channels (online, in branch, inventory, etc.) and maintain inventory of DFCU branded items as well as accurate records and reports in an organized structure on our Marketing server.
  • Maintain and order inventory of marketing supplies, giveaways and brochures.
  • Promote and cross-selling CU services and, when necessary, refer members to the appropriate department.
  • Maintain the distribution of large mailings. (Print and email)
  • Prepare routine to complex correspondence on a variety of subject matters relating to marketing. Ensure accuracy of work.
  • Edit marketing collateral and other marketing materials. Proof work of others for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist in scheduling and/or arranging appointments and meetings. Maintain the department’s calendar of events and schedules.
  • Disseminate information, resolve questions, coordinate follow through, and/or route calls to appropriate team members within department.
  • Ensure all documentation is current and complete by maintaining and filing digital records of printed material including master copies.
  • Attend various meetings and/or make financial literacy presentations in the community, benefit fairs, and/or at trade associations to develop new business prospects and promote the Credit Union.
  • Serve as a liaison between the credit union, Select Employer Groups, members, vendors, business partners, and other outside organizations.
  • Maintain and take charge of volunteer needs and efforts for department and other credit union events with marketing involvement. Needs and efforts involve seeking out volunteers, maintaining volunteer lists and schedules, and communication with the department and staff volunteers.
  • Conduct basic market research and compile findings for the marketing team.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating social media platforms by creating and scheduling content and working with external vendors as needed.
  • Respond to member inquiries and concerns via email, phone, or social media.
Requirements
  • Requires a high school diploma, bachelor’s degree is a plus.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, and experience in the Adobe Creative Suite and Canva. 
  • Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing. 
  • College classes in marketing, communications, and/or graphic design are preferred. 
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in marketing, public relations, or a related position is preferred.  
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Requires 20% local travel to perform branch audits, deliveries, and attend essential events.
  • Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings.

The employee will drive/travel in a vehicle at least 10% of each workweek.
