Calgon Carbon Corporation is currently looking for a dynamic, motivated college student for our 2024 Internship program which is scheduled to begin on June 2, 2025. 

Position: Marketing & Business Development Intern – Industrial Solutions – Carbon Applications & Testing
Location: Headquarters – Moon Township, PA 

Hours of work: Full-time position with hours generally Monday through Friday 9AM-5PM

Overview 

Our internship program provides real-world experience enabling future professionals the ability to apply what they are learning in school, to applicable situations in a career field they are pursuing. This internship program helps interns gain additional skills that can be applied to future jobs.  

The Industrial Solutions Business Line has several key areas where we are seeking to expand our presence. The Marketing and Business Development Intern will perform both traditional sales and marketing functions in support of those goals. The Intern will develop a basic understanding of the target industrial markets for activated carbon and then execute plans in coordination with the Marketing Manager to define customers and develop distinct scopes in each target market. The Intern will also perform digital marketing tasks. 

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to):  

  • Developing a good understanding of activated carbon and target markets
  • Identifying marketing literature needs and developing new content
  • Using prospecting tools or databases to define potential customers 
  • Executing phone and email customer outreach programs
  • Performing initial steps to develop customer relationships
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Web/Digital Marketing
  • Content Development

  • The successful intern will be punctual, reliable, detail-oriented, flexible, and adapting to changes, self-motivated, and acquire new skills quickly
  • Successful interns will have the ability to analyze problems in a systematic and timely manner, look for creative ways in offering new approaches, and is customer focused
  • A successful intern will be able to understand and apply a range of technical concepts related to the technical product: activated carbon
  • A successful intern will have the ability to analyze problems in a systematic and timely manner, look for creative and new approaches, and is customer focused
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Self-sufficient, self-motivated and capable of multi-tasking
  • Strong interest in learning about new topics 
  • Ability to understand scientific and regulatory topics
  • Self-motivation
  • Skills with digital tools, e.g. Adobe software, Microsoft 365 

Relevant Fields of Study - Working towards a bachelor’s degree in: 

  • Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or other related science field
  • Marketing
  • Business Management

Qualifications 

  • All applicants must be authorized to work in the US
  • Candidates must be willing to comply with pre-employment testing and background check
  • Must be a current student enrolled in a Business or Technical/Scientific or a related Program
