The American Diabetes Association is seeking a Spanish Communications Manager to join our Communications team. Reporting to the Director, Public Relations, the Spanish Communications Manager is responsible for partnering with other members of the communications team and partners across the ADA to develop and implement compelling and impactful communication plans to reach Spanish-speaking audiences that further ADA’s work to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with public relations and social media team members to develop and implement plans to engage Spanish-speaking audiences in the communities where they live, work and play
- Translate and/or review translations of materials from English to Spanish
- Develop materials to reach and support Spanish-speaking audiences
- Edit written materials according to AP style
- Assist other members of communications team to write press releases, op-eds, outreach materials for non-Spanish speaking audiences
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- 5+ years’ experience writing for multiple communications channels
- Strong knowledge of AP style
- Proven track record developing press releases, op-eds and other strategic communications pieces
- Proven track record developing relationships with members of the media and proactively pitching/placing key messages
- Ability to meet tight deadlines and successfully manage multiple priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to speak and write Spanish fluently is required
