Investigation Writer (Transcriber/Editor)

At TLNT, we believe that recruitment is more than just filling roles — it’s about connecting humans with humans. We’re a people-first organization partnering with top U.S. companies to help them grow by attracting exceptional talent, and we know that the right content can open the right doors.

A leading boutique law firm based in California, recognized for delivering discreet, in-depth, and impartial investigations that help public, private, and educational sector employers identify and address issues, is seeking a creative, detail-oriented Investigation Writer ( Transcriber/Editor) to support its growing caseload.

This role is not traditional marketing copywriting; this role demands strong analytical and language skills, exceptional attention to detail, fast, accurate transcription, and polished writing to turn witness interviews into clear, professional summaries that can be shared with clients and sometimes attached as exhibits in official reports. The work requires the utmost professionalism, as confidentiality and discretion are critical.

This is a unique opportunity to grow within a dynamic practice, while working remotely for a U.S.-based firm.

What You'll Do

  • Attend or review recorded witness interviews and take near-verbatim notes when recordings are not permitted.
  • Draft well-structured, polished summaries based on transcripts or notes, following a specific style guide (e.g., consistent past tense).
  • Edit content for accuracy, clarity, flow, and professionalism while preserving the intent and meaning of witness statements.
  • Ensure all written work meets confidentiality, discretion, and formatting standards.
  • Collaborate closely with attorneys to produce investigation-related documents.

What You Need

  • Proven experience in professional writing, transcription, or journalism (journalists, editors, or academic writers often excel in this role).
  • Exceptional command of written English, including grammar, syntax, and style.
  • Strong listening and fast typing skills for near-verbatim note-taking.
  • Ability to transform unclear, colloquial, or disorganized speech into professional, client-ready summaries.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
  • Bonus Skills:
  • Prior experience working with investigations, HR, or legal reporting (not required).
  • Familiarity with transcription or editing tools.
  • Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish)
