The Opportunity: Hamilton Lane is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Principal, Head of Marketing, to lead the firm’s global marketing function. This role will have full accountability for a 25-person team spanning channel marketing, product marketing, design, editorial/content, digital marketing, and events. The successful candidate will bring a strong blend of institutional credibility, creativity, operational rigor, and commercial mindset to elevate the Hamilton Lane brand and accelerate growth across all client segments. This leader will be responsible for setting the vision, structure, and operating model for marketing, ensuring tight alignment with business priorities, investment strategies, distribution, and client experience. Your responsibilities will be to: Marketing Strategy & Leadership Own and evolve Hamilton Lane’s global marketing strategy in support of firm-wide growth objectives across private wealth, institutional, and product platforms. Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, investment teams, distribution, and product, translating business priorities into high-impact marketing initiatives. Lead, inspire, and develop a 25-person, multi-functional marketing organization, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, creativity, and continuous improvement. Brand & Thought Leadership Steward the Hamilton Lane brand globally, ensuring consistency, clarity, and differentiation across all touchpoints. Partner with Corporate Communications to ensure consistent messaging, positioning and narrative development Elevate the firm’s thought leadership and content strategy to reinforce market leadership in private markets. Channel & Product Marketing Lead channel marketing strategy across institutional, private wealth, and intermediary channels, ensuring targeted, effective go-to-market execution. Oversee product marketing, including positioning, launch strategy, sales enablement, and lifecycle marketing for all investment offerings. Partner closely with distribution teams to drive demand generation and support pipeline growth. Content, Design & Editorial Oversee editorial, content development, and design functions to ensure high-quality, on-brand, and impactful storytelling across all media. Ensure marketing materials, presentations, and communications meet the highest standards of quality, clarity, and sophistication. Digital Marketing & Marketing Technology Own the digital marketing strategy, including website, email, marketing automation, analytics, and digital campaigns. Drive continuous improvement in digital engagement, lead generation, and client experience using data and insights. Partner with technology teams to optimize the marketing tech stack and capabilities. Events & Experiential Marketing Lead the global events strategy, including proprietary events, conferences, client forums, and sponsorships. Ensure events are tightly aligned to business objectives, deliver exceptional client experiences, and generate measurable ROI. Operations, Governance & Measurement Build scalable processes, operating rhythms, and governance models to support a growing, complex marketing organization. Establish clear KPIs, dashboards, and performance management to track effectiveness and ROI. Manage budgets, resources, and vendor relationships with discipline and transparency. Your background will include: 15+ years of progressive marketing leadership experience within asset management, preferably with experience in private markets and private wealth marketing. Proven experience leading large, multi-disciplinary teams and managing senior-level talent. Demonstrated ability to operate at both strategic and executional levels. Strong understanding of institutional and/or private wealth marketing, product marketing, and distribution dynamics. Exceptional communication, stakeholder management and engagement. Track record of building brands, scaling marketing organizations, and driving measurable business impact.
