Head of Digital Operations

Summary

 

The Head of Digital Operations is responsible for the strategic and execution-oriented technology leader to define and deliver the next generation of internal technology capabilities that power our mission. This role will own the vision, direction, and development of enterprise solutions that streamline operations, reduce friction, automate manual processes, and thoughtfully apply AI to improve scale, speed, and service quality. You will partner closely with business leaders across Operations, Finance, Grants, Donor Services, Compliance, and Investments to modernize workflows and enable a highly efficient, data-driven organization. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys building — not just planning — and who thrives at the intersection of technology strategy, process design, and intelligent automation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Strategy & Vision

  • Define the multi-year roadmap for internal technology platforms, automation, and AI enablement
  • Identify high-impact opportunities to simplify processes, eliminate manual work, and improve operational efficiency
  • Align technology investments to measurable business outcomes (cost, speed, quality, risk reduction)

 

Solution Delivery

  • Lead design and delivery of enterprise solutions including:
  • Workflow automation
  • System integrations
  • Low-code platforms
  • Data and reporting capabilities
  • AI/ML use cases and intelligent process automation
  • Translate business needs into scalable technical architectures
  • Oversee build vs. buy decisions and vendor partnerships

 

AI & Automation Enablement

 

  • Develop pragmatic AI use cases that drive real operational value
  • Implement tools such as RPA, process mining, copilots, and generative AI responsibly
  • Establish governance and controls to ensure compliance, security, and ethical use

 

Team Leadership

 

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of engineers, analysts, and solution architects
  • Create a culture of ownership, experimentation, and continuous improvement
  • Coach teams to deliver quickly with modern delivery practices (Agile, product mindset)

 

Stakeholder Partnership

 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to functional leaders
  • Lead cross-functional process redesign initiatives
  • Communicate clearly with executives on priorities, tradeoffs, and outcomes

 

Operational Excellence

 

  • Improve reliability, scalability, and maintainability of enterprise systems
  • Establish metrics and dashboards to measure efficiency gains and ROI
  • Ensure strong security, compliance, and risk management practices

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of progressive technology leadership experience
  • Experience leading enterprise applications, automation, or digital transformation teams
  • Experience leading in a Product Leadership organizational model
  • Demonstrated success delivering operational efficiencies through technology
  • Experience implementing AI/automation solutions in real business environments
  • Financial services, fintech, or regulated industry experience preferred

 

Skills:

  • Strong systems thinking and process design mindset
  • Expertise with modern platforms (Salesforce, ADP/Workday, Power Platform, UiPath, low-code/no-code tools, APIs/integrations)
  • Working knowledge of data platforms and analytics
  • Familiarity with generative AI and intelligent automation technologies
