Position Title: Director, Product Marketing (Plastic Reconstructive Surgery Franchise)

 Position Overview

The Director, Product Marketing is a key member of the company’s Marketing organization, reporting to the SVP – Marketing, Clinical Affairs and Medical Education. This position plays a pivotal role in product launches, portfolio management, and commercialization. This position combines day-to-day marketing activities (e.g., Voice of Customer collection, product advertising / promotion, product branding, positioning and messaging development, competitive surveillance, pricing management, and sales support) with critical strategy planning and execution. There will be heavy emphasis on one-on-one communication and relationship building with surgeon customers, sales leadership, and executive management.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Develop the annual marketing plan for all PRS brands used for soft tissue repair and reconstruction, in collaboration with the Commercial Sales team, Research and Development, and Clinical Affairs.
  • Manage market development and life-cycle management for related commercialized technologies:
    1. Product forecasting and market trends
    2. Development of promotional and product / business development plans
    3. Collect, analyze, and communicate relevant competitive activity
    4. Monitor effectiveness of marketing strategies and tactics, identify gaps, and implement solutions for continuous improvement
    5. Provide on-going sales support by serving as a clinical and product expert
    6. Utilize Key Opinion Leaders for training and product development programs
      1. Support Quality department in the identification and resolution of product complaints
    7. Market demographics and penetration strategy
    8. Brand Strategy
    9. Labeling and packaging
    10. Demand forecasting
    11. Positioning and messaging strategy
    12. Pricing / reimbursement strategy
    13. Training and education strategy
    14. Clinical research and publication strategy
    15. Field launch strategy
  • Develop additional marketing materials based on field input and need
  • Lead regular communications with the field to ensure consistent product positioning and messaging
  • Collaborate with Medical Education and Clinical Affairs teams to identify the need for technique guides, whitepapers, case reports, presentations, and journal publications
  • Develop content to assist with field sales training on products, messaging, and supporting data
  • Attend key industry conferences to gather information on market trends, competitive landscape, and clinical developments
  • Oversee the selection, hiring, training, development, appraisal and work assignments of more junior departmental personnel
  • Manage third-party vendors, as required

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in marketing, engineering, life sciences or related field

 Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • 10+ years of experience required, ideally in medical device product management
  • Experience within the soft tissue reconstruction or PRS/hernia repair field is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to think critically, assess situations quickly to make sound decisions and solve problems creatively within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop and execute multiple, large-scale projects independently, on time, and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Able to communicate with business users at all levels of the organization, including commercial team, and senior leadership
  • Able to view surgical procedures and participate in surgical education events
  • Able to present in front of large groups of customers and staff
  • Highly collaborative team player that places the interests of the organization first
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing digital marketing tactics preferred
  • Hands-on worker/self-starter with project management leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, including developing relationships at all levels in an organization and directly influencing business objectives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office platform products (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Word)

 Working Conditions

This position works in a Corporate Office or Home Office.  The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate. 

 Primary Location and Travel

  • We anticipate that on an ongoing basis this role will be a Home Office or Corporate Office based position 
  • Travel may be required for support of corporate meetings, along with other required events/meetings as needed up to 30% of the time
