The role of the Director of Marketing is to provide leadership and coordination of the company’s marketing functions. This includes the overall development and implementation of marketing strategies while monitoring and analyzing sales and marketing outcomes against goals. The Director of Marketing is responsible for driving corporate revenue by increasing lead generation through developing, deepening, and managing Gateway’s image as the industry ticketing expert.  As a member of the Executive Management Team, the Director will work within this leadership team to build the strategic direction of the company and mentor and lead the marketing department.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Administration, Marketing or Computer Science.
  • 8-10 years of experience as a Director of Marketing in the software, attraction, or related industry.
  • Experience in strategic planning and execution.
  • 5+ years of management experience and successful ability to lead a team.

  • Strong knowledge of marketing concepts, practices, and procedures applicable to software industries.
  • Knowledge of market and industry trends, competitors, and leading customer strategies.
  • Subject Matter Expert as related to knowledge of marketing concepts, practices, and procedures applicable to software industries.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, profit and loss calculations and basic business finance.
  • Ability to coach staff within department, while helping them grow in their positions. 
  • Excellent analytical and creative skills to create a business process using existing tools or to envision and implement new tools to enhance business processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and nurture relationships and work effectively at all levels of the decision process.
  • Proven ability to drive and meet stringent deadlines.
  • Strong communication including listening, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Exhibiting good interpersonal skills and patience when working with customers, both external and internal.
  • Excellent skills using Microsoft Office tools.
  • Excellent skills using contact management tools, Customer Relationship Management, and other marketing platforms.
  • Knowledge of PC-hardware, networks, and operating system platforms.
  • Ability to work/communicate to all levels of management and knowledge-based personnel and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects at the same time.
  • Travel 50% - domestically and internationally; some weekends required.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and individually. 
  • Working additional hours beyond regularly scheduled hours as requested by management.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for Gateway’s brand and industry expert image by managing corporate events, trade shows, advertisements and sponsorships, industry networking, and Gateway’s brand standards. 
  • Manage the marketing and promotion of Gateway’s products and services with the goal of developing new customers and maintaining current customer relationships. 
  • Planning and executing advertising/marketing, media relations, creative editorial and design services, cultivating the company image, and internal communications.
  • Determine market research projects, recommend process improvements, analyze customer demographics, and provide direction around the timing of product promotion.  Provide management with predictions of future market conditions and industry developments.
  • Providing leadership for the day-to-day operations of the marketing department, while maintaining focus on Gateway’s strategic goals.
  • Working within the Executive Team to develop strategic business plans for the company, especially working with Business Solutions leadership to maintain and develop lead generation processes.
  • Establish and implement short- and long-term goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.  
  • Analyze statistical market and customer data to assist in product management initiatives.
  • Provide additional insights and perspectives on findings and courses of action based on results of the research.
  • Managing the analysis of Gateway’s competitors and their methods of pricing, sales, marketing, and distribution.
  • Develop and administer marketing databases which include client and prospect information, mailing list applications, access to financial reports, etc. 
  • Managing development of product collateral/marketing literature including Product Sheets, Product Presentations, and Buyer’s Guide by proactively working with internal subject matter experts in the Product department.
  • Provide career development through performance feedback and coaching of department. 
  • Provide overall direction, motivation and support to marketing team members.
  • Create sales/marketing campaigns and pricing strategies that will increase revenue. Develop sales/marketing strategies to launch new products and services to strengthen brand image.
  • Develop and administer marketing’s annual budget along with quarterly updates, revisions, and modifications to the plan.
  • Participate in the company’s RFP process including soliciting RFPs from desirable prospective clients and writing proposals for new business; participate in planning and presentation sessions, when necessary.  
  • Maintain current knowledge of company products.
  • Attend external training to accumulate new and innovative selling, industry, and market ideas to advance the consultative and selling practices currently used.
  • Attending meetings and other company functions necessary to perform duties assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to hear, see and speak adequately (with or without accommodations) to perform the essential functions of the job.

  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to work in inside environmental conditions.
