POSITION SPECIFICS We’re seeking a creative and detail-oriented Digital Engagement Specialist to join our dynamic Communications and Marketing team in the Penn State College of Engineering. This entry-level role is ideal for someone who has strong writing skills, is eager to learn, and is passionate about digital storytelling in higher education. The specialist will be primarily responsible for creating targeted content for the college’s social media platforms and email newsletters, with a strong emphasis on building authentic relationships through community engagement. You'll get to engage with various groups within the Penn State Engineering community, spark online conversations and help tell the stories that make our college special. This role also involves tracking how posts and emails perform, staying on top of social media trends and frequently collaborating with team members and other stakeholders. Primary Duties: Create and schedule content that connects with community members across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook Build email newsletters in MailChimp that people want to read Help plan content calendars so we're sharing the right message at the right time Work with other members of our communications team to keep projects on time and the college’s voice consistent across channels Capture authentic moments at campus events Research our audiences and create regular reports on how our emails and social posts are performing Analyze performance data to improve our content strategy Collaborate with departments, students and alumni to tell great stories We’re Looking for Someone Who: Writes well for different audiences and platforms Has experience with email platforms like MailChimp (or eagerness to learn) Understands what performs on LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube Can look at performance data and spot patterns without getting overwhelmed by spreadsheets Stays organized when juggling multiple projects and catches the details Jumps in with new ideas and isn't afraid to try things in a busy, collaborative environment MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS Bachelor's Degree No prior relevant work experience required; previous relevant work experience accepted in lieu of education.
