Position overview \/ Statement of Work:<\/b>
<\/div>
The Content Writer for Phila.gov supports the platform redesign by leading the data and content migration
<\/div>
from the legacy website to the new CMS. This role audits, restructures, and rewrites existing content as
<\/div>
needed to ensure accurate, accessible, and well\-structured data transfer aligned with the City of
<\/div>
Philadelphiaâs voice, digital standards, and commitment to equity and inclusion. The Content Writer works
<\/div>
closely with City departments, designers, and developers to validate migrated content, resolve gaps or
<\/div>
inconsistencies, and confirm content readiness for launch.

Work activities:<\/b>
<\/b> <\/div>

Research, audit, write, and edit web content to support data and content migration from the legacy
<\/span><\/li>
Phila.gov platform to the new CMS.
<\/span><\/li>
Translate complex city programs and services into user\-friendly language.
<\/span><\/li>
Collaborate with departments and digital teams to ensure the migrated content aligns with city
<\/span><\/li>
standards and accessibility guidelines.
<\/span><\/li>
Optimize content transfer for readability, engagement, and digital platforms.
<\/span><\/li>
Ensure all migrated materials reflect the City of Philadelphiaâs voice, tone, and commitment to
<\/span><\/li>
accessibility and inclusion.<\/span>

Desired:

Experience writing for government, public sector, or civic\-focused websites.
<\/span><\/li>
Familiarity with Philadelphia city services, programs, and community needs.
<\/span><\/li>
Basic knowledge of SEO and analytics for web content.
<\/span><\/li>
Experience with content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing tools.
<\/span><\/li>
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.<\/span>

Highly Preferred:<\/b>
<\/b> <\/div>

Previous experience creating content for Phila.gov or similar government websites.
<\/span><\/li>
Understanding of plain language principles and accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG).
<\/span><\/li>
Experience collaborating with cross\-functional teams including designers, developers, and
<\/span><\/li>
communications staff.
<\/span><\/li>
Ability to analyze web content performance and make data\-driven improvements.
<\/span><\/li>
