The Communications Specialist is a dynamic and detail-oriented professional that creates clear, engaging and strategic messaging on behalf of our organization. This role is responsible for crafting compelling content that supports internal communications, external relations, brand visibility and funding opportunities. This individual is a strong writer and collaborative partner who can manage multiple projects while ensuring consistency, accuracy and alignment with organizational goals.Β 

The hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Drafts internal communications, including memos and engaging newsletters, that keep staff informed and connected.
  • Researches and develops grant proposals that align with and advance organizational goals.
  • Develops strategic social media content and oversees the planning and management of content calendars.
  • Prepares and distributes press releases as needed.
  • Collaborates with internal departments to maintain accurate, up-to-date policies and procedures.
  • Designs and updates organizational forms using Adobe software as needed.
  • Produces compelling content for flyers, publications and recruitment materials to support enrollment and hiring efforts.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or Related Field
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior interpersonal skills
  • Driver's license and reliable transportation required. Occasional travel to locations in Erie, Venango, and Crawford counties required for events.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods throughout the day with intermittent periods of standing, walking, and occasional bending, twisting, stooping, reaching, and grasping as necessary to carry out essential job duties
  • Sedentary work, with occasional lifting and carrying objects up to 30 pounds
