The Communications Specialist oversees the creation, coordination, and execution of internal and external communication strategies to effectively share the organization’s message and enhance its visibility. This role involves managing digital platforms, producing content, maintaining brand consistency, and supporting various teams with communication needs. This person reports to the Digital and Communications Director.
Schedule
This is a full-time, exempt position requiring 40-45 hours per week. The schedule includes hours on Sundays, designated office hours during the week, and occasional flexibility for events outside of regular hours.
Experience & Abilities
- Education: Degree or equivalent work experience in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or a related field.
- Experience: Project management and copywriting. Brand marketing experience is a plus.
- License/Certification: Valid PA driver’s license.
- Specific Abilities: Proficient in Apple operating systems. Possesses good communication skills and an understanding of communications/marketing techniques using print, web, email, social media, and other media formats. Highly organized, detailed-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects. A collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills who can also work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation and Management:
- Develop and manage engaging content for social media, email newsletters, websites, and printed materials.
- Write and edit copy for campaign, announcements, press releases, and other communication needs.
- Assist Digital and Communications team with social media tasks including brainstorming, caption writing, and scheduling posts.
- Brand Management:
- Ensure all communications align with Worship Center’s branding, tone, mission, and vision.
- Maintain consistency across all platforms and materials.
- Internal Communications:
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely communication of initiatives and events.
- Implement training for best practices. Able to teach and be a resource.
- Project Management:
- Serve as project manager for project pitches and requests using web-based project management software.
- Coordinate the ordering of organizational promotional material through local vendors.
- Analytics and Reporting:
- Track and analyze the performance of communication efforts and social media, providing regular updates and recommendations.
- Monitor trends and optimize communication strategies.
- Other duties as assigned.
