Position Summary
The Communication Intern supports the Internal Communications team within the Corporate Communications Department, working closely with the Communication Specialist and Director of Corporate Communications to help execute communication strategies and initiatives to support business needs. The Communication Intern provides writing, editing and communication planning support to inform, align and engage internal stakeholders across Goddard Systems.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the planning of internal campaigns that reinforce the system’s mission, vision, values and strategic priorities.
- Support the execution of communication plans by managing timelines, coordinating approvals, preparing draft content and ensuring deliverables are ready for distribution.
- Prepare first drafts of newsletter articles, intranet updates, surveys and various messages that inform, align and inspire internal stakeholders across the system.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather content, stories, and updates that highlight franchisee successes, community involvement and operational excellence.
- Research to inform internal messaging strategies, including gathering insights from franchisees, monitoring engagement metrics and identifying trends in internal communications.
- Assist in pulling engagement metrics and summarizing results.
- Supporting internal events such as webinars and town halls.
- Participate in a special project aligned with internal communications strategy—examples include supporting an internal event or completing a communication research project.
- Provide general support to the Communications team and contribute to other cross-functional strategic initiatives as assigned.
Experience and Competencies
Minimum Requirements
- Currently pursuing or just completed a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations, English, marketing, or other applicable field of study
- Proficient with computer applications, including Microsoft Office
Highly Desired
- Strong writing and editing capabilities and proficiency in AP style
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on assignments, manage deadlines and proactively communicate progress or roadblocks
- Personable and professional with strong written and oral communication skills, able to advance The Goddard School brand and reputation
- Strategic, creative, analytical and organizational skills
- Ability to develop strong relationships
