Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Communications in the Office of University Marketing and Communications ( UMC ) reports to the Director of Strategic Communications. As one of La Salleβs senior writers and editors, the Assistant Director promotes and elevates the Universityβs brand and reputation through interesting and creative storytelling. The role develops, maintains, and executes a comprehensive editorial and content calendar spanning all communication channels and audiences. The position requires collaboration across campus units.
Required Qualifications
Bachelorβs degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or English 3- 5 years related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered Extensive copywriting and copyediting experience Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, time management, project management, and organizational skills Adherence to deadlines in a fast-paced environment, with a high degree of flexibility, accuracy, and attention to detail Ability to produce written materials in a variety of formatsβquickly, accurately, and effectively Ability to interface with individuals at multiple levels of a complex organization with a proven history of professionalism and discretion Proficiency with AP style Ability to work independently to meet expected deadlines and schedules Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Cloud Collaboration software High comfort level in using technology to optimize workflow and business processes Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of La Salle University
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience working in a higher education environment Experience with social media management and/or basic phot and video editing and multi-media development
