The Marketing and Communications department at Chatham is seeking a student to serve as a Student Videographer/Photographer for the 2026–2027 academic year. Under the direction of the Social Media Specialist and Marketing Director, this student will support the creation of visual content for Chatham’s social media channels by capturing photo and video across campus.
This role works closely with the Digital Media Ambassador to film, photograph, and produce engaging content that reflects student life and the Chatham experience.
Job Duties
Capture photo and video content at campus events, student activities, and key university moments
Film Instagram Reels, TikToks, and other short-form video content, often featuring the Digital Media Ambassador
Take candid and posed photos of students, campus spaces, and day-to-day campus life
Assist the Digital Media Ambassador in executing content ideas (filming, setting up shots, capturing multiple angles, etc.)
Edit photos and assist with basic video editing for social media content
Contribute to photo and video assets to the content library for the Marketing team
Collaborate with the Marketing team during content shoots and campaigns
Participate in and contribute to team-wide monthly content brainstorming meetings and other meetings as needed
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Sophomore, junior, senior, or graduate student of any major
Interest in photography, videography, or content creation
Experience using a camera, smartphone, or editing tools (Adobe, CapCut, etc.) preferred but not
Strong attention to detail and visual composition
Ability to take initiative and capture moments in real time
Comfortable working collaboratively and taking direction
Reliable, organized, and communicative
Position Details
Students do not need to own their own camera for this role. This position must be completed Monday–Friday during the hours of 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., unless event coverage is arranged in advance. Two hours of in-office work will be per week in the Office of Marketing & Communications at Beatty House on Shadyside Campus. Additional work can be completed on campus or remotely at the discretion of the supervisor. Hours will vary depending on content needs, roughly 5–10 hours per week. Compensation is $11 per hour.
All current student employees should notify their other manager(s) if you work multiple jobs on campus at the same time. Additionally, students may not work more than 20 hours per week (combined between all campus jobs) during the academic year. Students may not exceed 980 work hours per calendar year.
Student jobs do not automatically roll over to the next academic year or summer.
