Our client, located in Washington, DC and San Francisco, CA is seeking a Senior Director of Marketing to join the Events & Marketing department. This position is remote with frequent travel between coasts.
Position Summary
The Senior Director of Marketing leads the strategic direction and execution of the organization’s marketing initiatives, driving membership growth, event attendance, industry influence, and revenue generation. This position is responsible for developing innovative marketing strategies that align with organizational goals while fostering a high-performing, collaborative marketing team.
Responsibilities

- Serve as a strategic partner to key departments, ensuring seamless alignment and execution of marketing strategies.
- Collaborate closely with event planning teams to develop and execute compelling promotional strategies that maximize conference, webinar, and event attendance.
- Partner with appropriate internal teams to cultivate a deep understanding of member value and proactively address evolving member needs.
- Cultivate and strengthen relationships with marketing partners, volunteers, and other key stakeholders.
- Develop and execute strategic marketing initiatives that drive member acquisition and retention.
- Champion member research initiatives to gain actionable insights into member needs and preferences.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and refine programs and campaigns that enhance member engagement and participation.
- Develop and manage the marketing budget, ensuring strategic allocation of resources and alignment with organizational priorities.
- Implement rigorous analytics and reporting processes to track and optimize marketing expenditures, maximizing ROI.
- Lead the development and execution of strategic branding initiatives to enhance the organization’s market visibility and reputation, while also managing the unique brand identities of individual programs.
- Ensure brand consistency across all marketing channels and materials, maintaining the core values and overall reputation of the organization.
- Develop and implement strategies to balance the need for distinct program identities and value propositions with the overarching association brand relevance and reputation.
- Collaborate with program leaders to ensure that their marketing efforts effectively communicate their unique value propositions while reinforcing the association's core message.
- Conduct regular brand audits to ensure consistency and alignment across all programs and marketing channels.
- Lead the creation and implementation of targeted, multi-channel marketing campaigns that drive membership, program, event, and revenue growth.
- Leverage data analytics to measure campaign performance and optimize strategies for maximum impact.
- Drive the organization’s digital marketing strategy, encompassing website management, social media, email marketing, and online advertising.
- Utilize advanced analytics to optimize digital campaigns and measure their effectiveness.
- Establish clear performance and professional development goals for the marketing team, aligning individual objectives with organizational outcomes.
- Empower and mentor a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture that embodies the organization’s core values.
- Drive team performance to achieve strategic goals and objectives.

Required Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience demonstrating a track record of success in marketing leadership
- Minimum of seven years of marketing experience, with at least three years in a leadership and people management role
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic marketing plans; expert knowledge of marketing strategies, processes, and program execution
- Proven experience in effective budget management and financial planning
- Proficiency in digital marketing, social media, content creation, and analytics tools
- Experience with CRM systems and marketing software
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
