The role, at a glance:

The Technical Writer develops and maintains documented procedures necessary to control manufacturing processes to ensure conformance to customer requirements.

How you'll contribute:

  • Develop documented information and procedures in simple language for use in manufacturing use or training.
  • ​Ensure that complex, technical information is easy to understand by individuals with nontechnical backgrounds, including proper sequence, grammar and spelling.
  • Determine the needs of end users of documented information by meeting with relevant subject matter expert to determine appropriate details and by studying product samples.
  • Use photographs, animation, drawings, videos or other appropriate mediums to increase user understanding.
  • Standardize content and format for manufacturing documented information.
  • Gather usability feedback from subject matter experts and users to revise documented information accordingly or as required by processing needs. 

You'll also support with:

  • Training manufacturing personnel on comprehending documentation and other topics as appropriate.
  • ​Maintaining manufacturing training matrix and records as applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

A successful candidate should have:

  • Associate degree in English, Communications or equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years of experience with manufacturing technical writing background preferred.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint); experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX and/or Agile a plus.

  • Experience with online documentation management and computer-based learning is preferred.

  • Must be able to translate complex, technical information by thinking about a process in the way a person without technical experience would.

  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and diffuse challenging situations using acceptable and appropriate methods.

  • Exceptional attention to detail with excellent writing and communication skills in English.

  • Training in and experience with Lean manufacturing principles is preferred.

  • Self-directed with the ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities.

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, team environment, while staying focused and carrying out tasks in a timely and accurate manner.

Work environment:

  • This is an onsite position based in Chester, PA

  • Stand or sit for long periods

  • Work in an environment that generates OSHA permissible machine noise levels

  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment
