The Manager, Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Communications, will be responsible for the creation and maintenance of scientific communication materials consisting of J&J internal or published data, as well as congress materials for the educational field needs for the U.S. Immunology MSL team supporting the Autoantibody-Pipeline Therapeutic Area.  


Key Responsibilities: 

  • Create and maintain scientific communication materials as needed to support the Autoantibody-Pipeline MSL team within the Immunology MSL organization 
  • Identify and deliver innovation in field medical materials including channel formats,data visualization, interactivity, and navigationbased on customer and MSL preferences 
  • In collaboration with Medical Affairs colleagues, collect and critically analyze pertinent internal and external documents and studies that provide scientific rationale for the use of J&J products 
  • Ensure adherence to timelines for project delivery so that data is available for external presentation in a timely manner 
  • Ensure quality and accuracy in all field medical materials to reinforce customer confidence and satisfaction with our MSL data presentations 
  • Lead thereview and approval of field medical materials through the Medical/Legal/Regulatory review process 
  • Track and analyze metrics of communication material use by MSLs 
  • Provide direction, oversight, and feedback to contractor(s) and/or vendor(s). 

  

Qualifications 

Education: 

  • BS required; MS/PharmD/PhD preferred 

Preferred: 

  • A minimum of 2 years of combined relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry is preferred 
  • Medical communications, medical information, medical writing, or any other Medical Affairs experience is preferred 

Experience and Skills 

Required:  

  • Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional environments as well as ability to partner with scientists, academicians, clinicians and vendors is required 
  • Must be highly proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, with outstanding slide design skills 
  • Ability to translate complex clinical concepts into simple, digestible and appealing visual displays is required 
  • Detail-orientation with ability to efficiently fact-check and find errors is required 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required 

Preferred: 

  • Experience in Immunology, Rare Diseases, or related therapeutic areas is highly preferred 
  • Experience in pharmaceutical health care compliance environment for external communication of scientific materials, with knowledge of compliant display of scientific data is highly preferred 
  • Familiarity with Veeva Systems or the Medical/Legal/Regulatory review process is preferred  


The expected base pay range for this position is $117,000 to $175,500. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs.  Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan.  The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year.  Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

Vacation –120 hours per calendar year   Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington –56 hours per calendar year   Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays –13 days per calendar year  Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year  Parental Leave – 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child  Condolence Leave – 30 days for an immediate family member: 5 days for an extended family member  Caregiver Leave – 10 days   Volunteer Leave – 4 days  Military Spouse Time-Off – 80 hours
