About Us:

Saxton & Stump is a Pennsylvania-based law firm with a robust regulatory and government affairs practice group, representing a diverse portfolio of clients across multiple industries. We work directly with the General Assembly, executive branch, agencies, and key decision-makers throughout Pennsylvania state government. We are seeking a motivated Lobbyist to join our team and support legislative and administrative advocacy efforts. This role is seated in our Harrisburg City, Pennsylvania office with a flexible hybrid schedule available.


Position Overview:


The Lobbyist will play a critical role in supporting client needs, advancing legislative priorities, and strengthening relationships with committee chairs, legislative staff, caucus leadership, and executive branch officials. This position is ideal for someone who is highly driven, organized, and eager to build a career in government relations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist senior members of the Saxton & Stump Regulatory and Government Affairs team “team” with lobbying and advocacy efforts before the Pennsylvania General Assembly and executive branch.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with committee chairs, legislative staff, leadership offices, and agency personnel.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory activity, prepare reports, and track issues relevant to client priorities.
  • Attend legislative hearings, meetings, and events; summarize and brief team members and clients as needed.
  • Conduct research and draft memos, policy analyses, and other materials to support lobbying strategy.
  • Support client communication and engagement, including preparing updates, scheduling meetings, and assisting with client planning.
  • Represent the firm professionally in all interactions with stakeholders.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 2–4 years of professional experience in a Pennsylvania lobbying firm or a similar level of experience at an association or non-profit organization. 3-5 years of professional experience in the Pennsylvania General Assembly (committee staff, leadership offices, or member offices) or the Governor’s Administration.
  • Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Previous experience in the Pennsylvania Capitol—internship, staff role, campaign work, or policy-related experience—is preferred but not required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated reliability, responsibility, and initiative.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to work hard in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Professionalism and the ability to develop rapport and trust with government officials and clients.
