Job Description
Dollar Bank is hiring for a Junior Consumer Loan Underwriter. In this role you will receive loan applications from various departments within Dollar Bank and the internet. These loan applications include auto, boat, recreational vehicle, personal term loans, credit cards and home equity loans. You will review documents to make loan decisions and will be responsible for balancing loan losses with approval rates, ensuring profitability and serving our customer’s needs. Candidates in this role typically possess good time management skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Qualifications:

•One year of consumer loan experience in a financial institution required.
•High school diploma/GED required; college degree preferred.
•Strong reasoning skills are essential to make well-thought-out decisions.
•Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
•Proven analytical skills.
•Must have proficient computer skills and the ability to learn Dollar Bank‘s software. packages
•Must be detail-oriented, organized and work efficiently under pressure.

Principal Activities and Duties:

•Review and analyze all necessary documents such as credit reports, property reports, flood reports, and appraisals to ensure the standards required to conform to the underwriting guidelines listed above.
•Analyze income documentation, including tax returns on self-employed borrowers, to verify income.
•Accurately determine the borrower‘s ability and willingness to repay the debt.
•Document the loan origination system either for approval or rejection.
•Respond accurately to underwriting questions from the loan origination source to ensure that consistent policy and procedures are followed as prescribed by the Bank.
•Support branches in handling customers‘ borrowing needs.
•All employees have the responsibility and the accountability to serve as risk managers. for their businesses by understanding, reporting, responding to, managing, and monitoring the risk they encounter daily as required by Dollar Bank’s risk management. program. Compliance with regulatory laws and company procedures is a required component of all position descriptions.
