Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. We are currently seeking an Intern to support the Business Development and Marketing department, reporting directly to the Business Development team supporting the Lobbying & Public Policy, Intellectual Property and Cybersecurity and Privacy practice groups.

As a part of our dynamic Business Development and Marketing team, you will be given hands-on experience in driving growth and shaping strategies while supporting the firm’s Lobbying & Public Policy, Intellectual Property and Cybersecurity and Privacy practice groups. In this collaborative and innovative work environment, you will work alongside experienced professionals while simultaneously gaining the necessary skills and proficiency needed to advance your career.

Key responsibilities of this position include:

• Assist with updating attorney biographies both externally and internally
• Prepare connectivity reports identifying internal and external relationships 
• Assist with the distribution of external content including client alerts, blog posts, invitations, etc.
• Engage in graphic design work and formatting PowerPoint presentations
• Assist in drafting award submissions
• Support certain firm events; helping RSVPs and contact lists
• Assist with updating matter databases
• Coordinate attendees for firm-sponsored charitable and industry events
• Collaborate with colleagues across different departments and offices to provide the highest level of service to each task
• Other special projects, as assigned

Qualifications (Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities):

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Enrolled in, or recently graduated from, accredited university or college
• Interest and experience in Marketing/Business Development
• Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate with colleagues in an effective manner
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust to shifting priorities in a timely manner
• Willingness and ability to assume new tasks and responsibilities
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with peers, office and firm management, vendors, etc.
• Ability to work well under pressure, motivate self, facilitate creative solutions, and meet deadlines and milestones for projects assigned
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality of client, firm and personnel information, and adhering to the Firm’s Core Values

The hourly rate range for this position in Washington, DC is $19,50 to $22.50/hr.
