Position Summary
McCormick Taylor's internship program is designed to ensure our interns gain as much real‐world experience as possible. As a professional services firm, the primary functions of the marketing team are to conduct research, lead and support client and business development activities throughout the firm, partner with technical staff to develop compelling proposals and presentations to win new work, and attract clients and top talent through a range of promotional activities.

We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are eager learn about marketing in the A/E/C industry and contribute to the success of our firm. Qualified candidates will have strong attention to detail, the ability to multitask and take initiative, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and an innate curiosity about the work that we do and the impact it has on the world around us. Experience with social media strategies and platforms and Adobe Creative Suite is preferred, although not required.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the marketing intern may include, but are not limited to:

Proposal and Business Development

  • Support proposal development efforts.
  • Collaborate with internal employees to create, update, and revise resumes and project summaries.
  • Attend marketing meetings and assist with the creation of marketing agendas and meeting minutes
  • Track and disseminate information about upcoming project pursuits.

Marketing Data

  • Develop familiarity with the Vantagepoint database and assist with data entry, maintenance, and reporting.
  • Audit, verify, and update marketing data in Vantagepoint.
  • Reconcile and segment marketing contacts in database and email service provider contact list
  • Contribute to creating a process for ongoing database maintenance.

Research

  • Conduct research on industry trends, markets, clients, competitors, and other needs, as required.
  • Conduct research for project opportunities.

Promotional Activities

  • Review, edit, and develop key marketing qualifications content and collateral (staff resumes, project summaries, etc.)
  • Collaborate with team in support of social media and website content and strategies.
  • Support activities in preparation for tradeshow exhibiting.

We give our interns exposure to a variety of tasks to build a foundational understanding of the mix of activities that go into successfully marketing a professional services firm. Along the way, we aim to provide opportunities to learn more about the technical aspects of the work McCormick Taylor does. By the end of the internship, the marketing intern will have a better understanding of what it takes to win in the competitive landscape of the A/E/C industry and the important role marketing plays in contributing to a firm’s success.
