Position Title: Communications Intern

Position Summary:

This position will be a part time position (24 hours / week) for the duration of the college internship program (usually 3-4 months).

This position will primarily assist with social media duties, which include content creation (design, picture and video posts, drafting articles and post copy) and community management for social media channels, specifically TikTok but also including Facebook and Instagram.

The position offers entry-level opportunities for a current communications student (social communications, journalism, TV/Video Production, graphic design). The position offers an opportunity to get acquainted with modern communications tools and technologies; please note, however, that it does not include training in design or video-editing software.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

Content creation based on editorial calendar

-Able to create and brainstorm ideas for content (article, interview, video, posts, assets, etc)

-Support in the creation process for said content (depending on specialty: graphic design, video production, drafting articles, etc)

 

Community management for social media

-Reviewing and responding to comments and questions from audiences/other users

-Commenting on accounts of partner organizations, Ambassadors, National Programs

 

Required Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in a university-level degree program (social communications, TV/Video production, journalism, graphic design)

Strong interest in working in the disability sector / NGOs dealing with social or humanitarian issues

Experience with Social Media apps and management platforms

Ability to work both independently and in a team setting

Good communication skills for interacting with internal teams and external stakeholders

 

Desired Qualifications:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite

Empathetic and appreciative of a wide range of people and cultures

Resourceful and creative
