Purpose:
The UPMC Health Plan is looking for someone to help shape the future of healthcare policy with Pennsylvania's largest employer in this dynamic government relations role. As a member of the Health Plan Government Relations team, the Director will represent and advance the interests and positions of UPMC ISD before state and federal legislatures, government/regulatory agencies and key third-party constituencies. The position would include relationship-building with key government and community stakeholders to help advance the Government Relations teams work to inform and support in the Insurance Services Division's (ISD) regulatory, legislative and business strategies.
*This role is Hybrid and will require occasional travel throughout PA and Washington D.C.*
Responsibilities:
- Track and analyze legislation and regulatory proposals with potential impact to UPMC ISD lines of business.
- Build and maintain relationships with key legislative and agency staff to support and grow strong working relationships across UPMC Health Plan products and geographic footprint.
- Represent UPMC Health Plan before formal and informal stakeholder groups, including local, county, state and federal governmental leaders and trade associations regarding UPMC ISD programs, policies, processes and mission.
- Promote UPMC ISD legislative priorities before state and federal policymakers.
- Represent UPMC ISD's interests and positions before health insurance industry associations and participate, as directed by VP, Government Relations, on trade association legislative and policy work groups.
- Prepare status reports on legislative, regulatory and other assigned projects and brief executive management.
- Work with UPMC ISD executives and other staffs to understand specific needs that could be met through lobbying activities.
- Work with internal and external government relations and lobby groups to develop collective strategies, tactics and messaging.
