Description

This position provides a variety of administrative and governmental services for constituents, while also serving as a specialist for the Member’s communication matters, such as acting as a press liaison in the district, coordinating with the Legislative Communications Office to maximize press coverage and managing constituent outreach on legislative issues. This position reports to the District Office Director.

This position is 100% onsite and is not eligible for Telework.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

In addition to all Constituent Service Advisor duties, a Constituent Services and Communications Advisor: 

  • Works directly with the Member’s LCO Media Specialist to identify opportunities for outreach such as news releases, emails, social media posts and public events, while ensuring legislative purpose.
  • Performs site selection analysis and site preparation for Member events, coordinating with LCO and District Office Operations staff and ensures materials are ordered in a timely fashion from Publications.  Helps Member prepare for public appearances.  Assists Member at public events, takes photos and short videos for upload to social media and for use in Member email outreach and website updates.
  • Writes first drafts of speeches, news releases, social media posts and emails for district-based events and topics and coordinates with LCO for editing and distribution.
  • Builds and sends Indigov Bulk Mailer emails to Member distribution list audiences appropriate for the subject and monitor incoming replies.
  • Posts all district-based social media content and monitor Member platforms for constituent inquiries.
  • Maintains working relationships with local media and local organizations to prepare event calendars for distribution via social media and email.
  • Uses caucus tools to personalize graphic materials created in Harrisburg for district use and to create district based graphic materials when appropriate.
  • Participates in training from caucus staff and external experts on writing for multiple platforms, social media, web content creation, graphic design, photography, videography and any other tasks needed for the position.
  • Performs any other legislative work-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS 
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Ability to use standard social media platforms on desktop and on mobile devices. Ability to use basic design software like Canva is a plus.  Ability to recognize Member’s speaking style and issues and prepare materials in an appropriate manner.  Effective at tailoring messaging to fit appropriate outreach platforms.  Ability to work under strict deadlines and often fast turn arounds to produce timely and impactful multimedia content.  Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  One-year related experience may be substitute for certification or equivalent combination of education and experience.
