Location: University Honors College, Des Places Hall

Rate of Pay: $12.00/hour Hours: Up to 15 hours per week

Position Summary: The University Honors College seeks a creative, organized, and dependable student employee to serve as the Student Marketing & Events Assistant. This position supports Honors College communications, student engagement, and event operations through social media management, marketing and promotional efforts, event calendar coordination, and event support. The student will work closely with the Honors College Program Coordinator. The position requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, creativity, and the ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Social Media & Marketing (40%)
 • Manage and maintain Honors College social media accounts.
• Develop and schedule social media content promoting Honors College programs, events, deadlines, and student opportunities.
• Create engaging graphics, flyers, digital signage, and promotional materials using Canva.
• Capture photos and content at Honors College events for future marketing and communications.
Event Promotion & Calendar Management (25%)
• Maintain the Honors College events calendar in coordination with the Honors College Program Coordinator.
• Assist in publicizing Honors College events through email, social media, digital displays, and printed materials.
• Support event registration and communication efforts.
Event Support (25%)
• Assist with event setup, registration, hospitality, photography, logistics, and cleanup.
• Serve as a visible representative of the Honors College during programs and special events.
• Help ensure programs run smoothly by providing on-site support to staff, faculty, presenters, and guests.
Administrative Support (10%)
• Assist the Honors College Program Coordinator with special projects and operational needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned in support of Honors College operations.

Required Qualifications:
• Eligible for Federal Work Study employment.
• Current Duquesne University student in good academic standing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
• Dependable, punctual, and professional.
• Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience using Canva or similar graphic design software.
• Experience managing social media accounts for an organization, club, or department.
• Experience in event planning, event support, or student leadership roles.
• Interest in marketing, communications, public relations, graphic design, event management, or higher education administration.
• Basic photography and content creation experience.
