The West Chester University Foundation is currently looking for an Assistant Director of Social Media and Marketing to join its dedicated, dynamic, and collaborative Engagement Team. The Assistant Director of Social Media and Marketing to join its dedicated and collaborative Engagement Team. The Assistant Director of Social Media and Marketing advances the mission, visibility, and strategic priorities of the West Chester University Foundation and the WCU Alumni Association by leading integrated social media, marketing, and creative content initiatives. This role is responsible for developing and executing digital storytelling strategies that strengthen the alumni network, increase alumni and donor engagement, and support fundraising and institutional advancement goals.
Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications and Annual Giving, this position serves as a creative project manager and brand ambassador, ensuring cohesive messaging, consistent visual identity, and timely execution across digital and print platforms. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with advancement colleagues and campus partners to grow alumni participation, expand digital engagement, and cultivate meaningful connections that move constituents along the engagement continuum- from awareness and connection to advocacy and philanthropic support.
Essential Job Functions
Social Media Strategy & Alumni Engagement
- Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy aligned with Foundation fundraising priorities, alumni engagement initiatives, and institutional campaigns.
- Create compelling, mission-driven content that highlights alumni stories, donor impact, student success, and Foundation initiatives to strengthen alumni affinity and expand the alumni network.
- Maintain and manage a strategic content calendar supporting key initiatives including Day of Giving, Alumni Weekend, Homecoming, donor recognition events, and special campaigns.
- Actively monitor engagement metrics, audience growth, and platform analytics; analyze performance trends and provide data-informed recommendations to increase reach, alumni participation, and digital engagement.
- Implement strategies that encourage alumni interaction, peer-to-peer sharing, volunteer involvement, and event participation to expand and activate the alumni network.
- Ensure all content reflects Foundation brand standards and reinforces a cohesive institutional identity.
Marketing & Creative Design
- Design and manage marketing materials for Foundation and Alumni Association programs and events, including signage, banners, posters, programs, digital graphics, and event collateral.
- In partnership with the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications, develop promotional and impact materials such as one-pagers, stewardship pieces, campaign assets, and alumni engagement materials.
- Support integrated marketing plans that drive event registration, volunteer involvement, alumni participation, and philanthropic engagement.
- Maintain consistency in visual identity and messaging across all print and digital channels.
Digital Platforms, Email & Website
- Maintain working knowledge of the Foundation’s website through the Almabase platform, including content updates, page management, and email creation.
- Create and manage event registration pages to support alumni and donor events, ensuring a seamless and user-friendly experience.
- Develop and deploy targeted email communications that promote events, highlight impact, and strengthen alumni connectivity.
Video & Creative Partnerships
- Serve as the primary liaison to the WCU Digital Media Center (DMC) for all Foundation-related video production.
- Coordinate project timelines, scopes, and deliverables for video content used in fundraising campaigns, alumni outreach, stewardship, and brand storytelling.
- Support the integration of video and multimedia content into social and digital strategies to increase engagement and expand alumni reach.
QualificationsJob Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, graphic design, public relations, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of professional experience in marketing, communications, or social media management.
- Experience in higher education, nonprofit, alumni relations, or advancement environments preferred.
- Demonstrated experience creating and managing digital and print marketing materials.
- Demonstrated experience growing online communities and increasing engagement across digital platforms.
- Strong writing, editing, and visual storytelling skills.
- Strong graphic design experience with proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or comparable design tools.
- Experience managing social media platforms and content management systems.
- Ability to analyze performance metrics and apply insights to improve engagement outcomes.
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively across teams.
- Strong collaborator with a relationship-focused approach to engagement.
Typical Work Conditions:
- Work is performed in an office and/or remote environment (40%) based on manager discretion.
- May work additional hours as needed.
- This position requires evening and weekend work.
- Ability to travel throughout the US.
- Use of personal devices (cell phone, personal computer, etc.) may be necessary on occasion to maintain business operations.
Typical Physical Demands:
- Regular use of hands to manipulate office tools and equipment, phones and computer keyboard.
- May lift and move office supplies up to 20 pounds.
- May stand, reach with hands and arms, stoop, and squat to file.

We are pleased to offer a competitive salary of $55,000-$57,000/year commensurate with experience and ability and includes full benefit package such as paid time off, medical, dental and life insurance, and 9.29% employer contribution to retirement plan.
